History of the Present: A Current Events Timeline for Your Yearbook

View an updated version here.

It is hard for some high schoolers to believe, but most of the world happens outside the school walls. A lot goes on every year, and students will be happy to have a current events timeline to remind them of that. It is great both for the present and the future, to look back and see what was happening during their formative years.

Who won the Superbowl, Olympics, and World Cup? What is going on politically in your city and state? Was Gay Marriage legalized? Worldwide there have been many complex and terrible crises in many different countries.

Some pretty terrible things have happened all over the world. However, these events are very important to highlight for your students. Hopefully, when they look back in 20 years, they will remember these events with disbelief because they have been resolved and justice has been carried out.

Think about illustrating your timeline with photos of current events as well as with a few sentences contextualizing each event.
